Ctgb can rely on ‘Best of Suite’

Ctgb: Board for the Authorisation of Plant Protection Products and Biocides
The Board for the Authorisation of Plant Protection Products has the duty of taking decisions on the authorisation of pesticides; based on the 2007 Plant Protection Products and Biocides Act. The Board takes decisions on the authorisation of pesticides within the framework of the rules and legislation concerned. The Board is an independent administrative body. The general framework and supervision is provided by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation (Plant Protection Products) and the Minister of Infrastructure & Environment. Other departments involved are the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sports and the Ministry for Social Services & Employment. For more information: www.ctgb.nl.

Many organisations, with many different interests, are dependent of Ctgb’s judgements. Time is an issue too, for the products can’t be put on the market without Ctgb’s authorisation. The judgement has to be good: the legislator demands only products will be allowed that are proven safe for the consumer, public health and the environment. Therefor the Board has to offer a great diversity of expertise and competences. The combination OpenIMS with SugarCRM supports how this expertise and competences lead to an optimal judgement.

The choice for OpenSesame was not made because it’s open source software. Verboort: ,,We strictly valued how the software meets the functional demands. We are pleased that it’s open source though, because it matches government policy.”

About Ctgb
The Ctgb is an autonomous administrative decisions based on relevant policies of five departments: Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM), Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) and Transport (Transport and Water Management).
The Ctgb decides on the authorization of plant protection and biocidal products based on harmonized European legislation. For resources derived from 'new substances' regime is operational. For resources derived from "existing" substances is re-evaluation program established, so there is a transition. For PPP, which lasts until 2008 and until 2010 for biocides. It takes as Ctgb national assessment authority participates in the EU evaluation of substances.
